Matt leads the Intellectual Property practice at Spengler & Agans. He assists companies and content creators with the protection and development of their copyrights, trademarks, and new media and internet issues. He is a Certified Information Privacy Professional/US (CIPP/US) via the International Association of Privacy Professionals. He developed a legally-focused startup, including a digital media company that managed the domestic and international distribution, marketing, licensing, clearances, negotiations, and piracy monitoring of hundreds of films and television shows.
In the community, Matt is a board member and chair of the communications committee for the Monroe Road Advocates. He worked with local businesses, citizens, government, realtors, and non-profits to revitalize southeast Charlotte, including the major public art project near East Mecklenburg High School, the Embrace sculpture. Matt previously volunteered for the Inmate Legal Assistance Project, the Protective over Project, and Outreach for Legal Literacy.
In his free time, Matt loves exploring the food and sites of North Carolina with his wife and baby daughter, and is a diehard football fan.
