Eric leads the civil litigation, employment, and consumer protection practice at Spengler & Agans. He assists clients in contract disputes; employment issues, including wage and hour claims; and other civil litigation, such as fiduciary duty and estate administration cases. Eric also offers immigration law services relating to business and employment issues, as well as family-based visas. The son of a psychologist, Eric works closely with clients to make sure all of their needs are being met — not just in court, but also from a broader perspective. We work hard to make sure you understand what to expect. While it is difficult to predict the future, we are happy to discuss with our clients all available options. We pride ourselves on being readily available for a phone call or a quick update by email.
Depending on how your case turns out, our firm can handle an appeal. Eric’s experience includes working for a judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals, and he has appeared before the North Carolina Court of Appeals.
Our firm offers a range of civil litigation services. While we do not handle criminal or domestic cases, we have experience litigating a variety of other civil litigation matters
In the community, Eric currently serves as a representative for Sustain Charlotte on a task force appointed by City Council to find a solution that balances continued development with concerns for flooding and water quality. He also volunteers with the Carolina Refugee Resettlement Program and provides his time pro bono to the juvenile immigrant program of Legal Services of Southern Piedmont.
Eric was born in upstate New York and spent most of his childhood in Muncie, Indiana, the subject of a series of sociological studies in the early 20th century on “Middletown” America. He recognizes and appreciates the tremendous opportunities he has been given to travel overseas: Eric spent a semester as a foreign exchange student in Avignon, France and 10 weeks backpacking with a friend through South America. Of all the places he has seen in the world, his “happy place” remains in the Adirondack Mountains of upstate New York.
In his free time, Eric enjoys going to concerts, hiking and camping, playing in a soccer league with his brothers in Asheville, and exploring the Plaza Midwood and NoDa neighborhoods.
